Located on the edge of the small market town of Clitheroe, Lancashire, Moorland is thriving, non-selective, co-educational private school that attracts pupils both from the UK and overseas.
It is based in spacious, inspiring, beautiful grounds and buildings that are steeped in the local history of the Ribble Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty that provides the perfect setting for continuous learning and development.
Moorland Private School caters for children of all ages from nursery through to sixth form, giving parents the option for a smooth educational journey, without the need to uproot or disrupt. The facilities and standards for every age group are of a very high quality, providing inspiration to learn.
Moorland Welcome Students From the UK, Armed Forces & Overseas
Many Moorland boarders come from families who are in the armed forces. For those in the forces who are entitled to claim the Forces’ Boarding Schools Allowance – Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA), it will be great news to know that Moorland is on the approved schools list.
Moorlands also attracts a wide cross-section of international students, who together with local students who travel to the school from throughout the local area, as well as boarders from within the UK, create a perfect mix of young people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, who can grow and learn from each other. With an average of around 380 students attending, it’s also small enough to feel like a family, welcoming and non-threatening.
Excellent Provision Of Education, Amenities & Pastoral Care
At the heart of every successful school is the provision of excellent educational standards by a highly professional and dedicated team of teachers and support staff. Moorland provides a high quality modern education, delivered to the traditional high British educational standards, within a historic and beautiful location.
The teaching staff at Moorland work hard to make sure that every child feels valued, is secure and involved. Class sizes are smaller than most other comparative all private schools, meaning that highly focused personal tuition is always achievable, building the teacher-student bond and producing a higher standard of educational results.
The Independent Schools Inspectorate regularly visits the school and its reports confirm that Moorland works hard to achieve all the standards required of it, fulfilling its educational responsibilities with all due care and attention.
Sports & Leisure Opportunities
The school also provides a wide range of sporting and leisure opportunities. There is a soccer academy for juniors and seniors, and a dedicated ballet school is also located on site. For older pupils at sixth form level, these facilities offer a BTEC level 3 soccer academy and a professional standard ballet program.
Moorland has sports teams competing locally against other schools and academies, for example in netball and football, allowing your child not only the opportunity to get an excellent standard of formal education, but also to enjoy the benefits of physical activity and peer group bonding.
Boarding Facilities & Activities
Parents and teachers know that a bored child is not a child who will learn to the best of their ability, so the staff at Moorland ensure that children boarding at the school are well looked after every hour of the day and night. The school works hard to provide activities, equipment and opportunities for children throughout the week to ensure they are happy and also to help minimise homesickness.
Activities and facilities include:
· Extensive mature grounds
· spacious and well equipped common rooms
· Computer Suites
· Lounge with Sky TV
· School Library
· Music Room
· Sports Facilities
· Local Swimming Pool & Cinema
· Trips and Excursions
As well as providing an excellent educational platform, safety, security and medical provision are also key focuses of teachers and support staff at the school. You can be safe in the knowledge that your child will always have a careful and compassionate eye kept on him or her, giving you a complete peace of mind about their welfare during their time at the school.
